Pyrrha: Hm?

Jaune: *point to Mercury* Just letting you know, that the guy over there got 2 prosthetic legs.

Pyrrha: *perplexed* How-

Jaune: *point to the disguised Neo* I spoke with her. So anyway, he plans to fight you. Now, you remember what i said about using every advantage in a fight, right?

Pyrrha: B-but that wouldn't be fairplay and-

Jaune: *sigh* Pyrrha, do you really wish to be a huntress?

Pyrrha: *shocked* Wha- Yes! Of course i want!

Jaune: *taking her hands in his, looking at her straight in the eyes* Then... Why are you still holding back? Do you think the criminals will? Or the grimms?

Pyrrha: *Blushing madly* whu-..

Jaune: *sigh* Guess i'll have to teach you more. *Getting up* Miss Goodwitch, may i take the first fight?

Glynda: *surprised* I don't mind... This is the first time you volunteered yourself. *Frown* Is everything ok?

Everyone: *silence... Then everyone starts talking at the same time*

Glynda: *annoyed* Silence! *Everyone shut up* Good. *Turn to Jaune* Now, why would you want to fight me instead of anyone else?

Jaune: *smiling* In the face of a stronger opponent, one needs to create their own advantage. I'm not expecting to win against you, but i want to show everyone how even the most powerful semblances can be overcome.

Glynda: *small smirk* Oh? Am i to assume you will use any trick necessary to that goal?

Jaune: *smirking* Of course. If it's to help my partner, i don't mind getting a bit rough.

*sound of something falling to the ground*

Nora: Uh... Jaune?

Jaune: ... That was Pyrrha, wasn't it?

Nora: Yep.

Jaune: *sigh* Anyway, maybe we should spar outside? And uh... Can someone help? I think i'd make it worse if i tried helping her.

Glynda: *looking at her students* Tsk. Maybe i should be stricter with them.

Jaune: *wearing his armor and a bunch of vial of dust* Well, can't blame kids for being kids, right?

Glynda: *looking at him* You are one of them you know?

Jaune: *flinch for a instant then smile* I guess i am. *Stretch* Well, for today i'll be your assistant teacher.

Glynda: *keeping note of that flinch* Hm...*taking position* Ready when- *gets blinded by Jaune's using thunder dust as a flashbang* !

Jaune: *already running to her, quickly mixing dust together* A huntsman should never lower their guards in a fight! *Dodge the disciplinarian, then slash at her twice* We rely on our senses to use our semblance, so the best way to win- *gets pushed back by Glynda's semblance* -is to have the element of surprise! *Throw an ice and fire dust vial near Glynda, a thick mist instantly forming to obstruct her vision further*

Glynda: *smiling* (He's good. Using my politeness to get the advantage.) You didn't follow the rules, Jaune. *Hearing him approaching from the right* Maybe you should be punished? *Use her semblance to condense the water in the air into needles, throwing them at Jaune, which blocks part of them with his shield*

Jaune: *apologetic smile* Sorry, just wanted to show them that real fights don't have rules. *Unsheathing his sword, starting to run at her* And i'm not done yet! *Using ice dust on the ground, making it slippery* Bad day for heels, don't you think?

Glynda: *trying to maintain her balance* What the-

Jaune: *slide, making her fall on the ground* The second thing you can use is your environment! *Gets on one knee then stab the ground with an earth crystal covered in plant dust, making the ground under them burst with roots, covering Glynda* Change it, mold it, make it yours!

Glynda: *chuckle while using her power to unroot everything around her* Not bad, not bad at all. *Aim at Jaune with a smirk* My turns now.

Jaune: *using gravity dust on himself to make himself heavier* The last part is aura management. *Taking position, placing his shield to protect his vitals* Everyone has limits, a point where they can't realistically fight at 100% even if they still have Aura.

Glynda: *begin her assault, throwing stones and roots at her student*

Jaune: *gritting his teeth, slowly but surely sliding out of the ring* Semblance uses Aura, you can bring them down with time! You don't need to rush! *His foot pass the borders limit* Ring out!

Glynda: *sweating, stopping her assault* That was.... That was good, very good even!

Jaune: *not moving*

Glynda: *worried* Mr Arc? Jaune?

Jaune: ... I used too much gravity dust, I'm stuck!

Back with the spectators

Ruby: *frotting at the mouth from the awesomeness*

Weiss: *looking at their aura reserve* 87% for Jaune and 68% for Glynda.

Yang: Damn, VB is good, right Pyr?

Pyrrha: ...

Nora: Pyrrha?

Pyrrha: ... *Looking at her hands* So he was holding back during our spar too...

Nora: *worried* A-are you ok?

Pyrrha: *having a... Weird smile and eyes* Eh, eh eh eh~

Yang: ... *Slowly pulling out another bottle of water and slowly giving it to Pyrrha* P-money, your thirst is showing.

Pyrrha: *snapping back to reality* O-oh! I'm Sorry!

Blake: ... By the way, did anyone see Ren?

Ren: *coming back with his pockets full of Liens* I'm here.

Weiss: *frowning* Where did you get that?

Ren: *shrug* Everyone was betting on low aura while i took the "risk" of taking the ring out.

Yang: Wait, there were bets?!

Ren: Yeah, team CRDL was making them when you were gone getting some water for Pyrrha. *Looking at Ruby* By the way, you won too, Ruby.

Ruby: *hearing the news, getting back to reality too* Woohoo! More part for Crescent Rose!

Emerald: Should we be worried? He was the one who stopped Roman from stealing the cargo at the docks.

Cinder: ... I need to ask that old fool for more information on him. He could be... Useful, since our plans have changed...

Ren: Yes, ever since the destruction of my village, Nora and I have been watching out for each other.

Nora: Just a couple of orphans making their way in this crazy world, one ass kicking at a time!

Emerald: Hell yeah! Orphan Club! Parents are overrated anyways.

Mercury: Tell me about it. Killed mine first chance I got.

Cinder: Would have killed mine sooner if I could. Has anyone else here killed their parents?

Neo: *Conjures some subtitles.* I mean, technically? I definitely didn't help keep them alive.

Adam: *Shrugs* Mine are probably still alive somewhere.

Jaune: *Sitting there awkwardly, feeling the sudden urge to call his parents and tell him he loves them.*

Charlotte Arc: *Stops in the middle of her baking.*

Lucien Arc: *Looks up from his paper work.* Something wrong, honey?

Charlotte: I don't know... I suddenly have the strange urge to adopt seven more children.

Lucien: *Let's out a groan.* But we JUST managed to get two of them to move out of the house! *His scroll starts ringing and answers it.* Oh hey, speak of the Devil. Hey Jaune.

Cinder: *Angry* Don't you pay attention to my plans?!

Mercury: I will be honest, I have never paid attention to your plans.

Cinder: Urg! We're here to get Arc drunk so we can find a weak point we can use against the famous Pyrrha Nikos.

Mercury: Oooooh! Well, lucky for you it seems he's already drunk.

He says as he looks past Cinder. She follows his gaze and sees Jaune drinking a mug of beer while singing.

Cinder: This will be easy.

Mercury: Good luck.

Cinder: I don't need luck.

She begins to walk towards him while Mercury stays behind watching.

Jaune: *Singing* 🎶Mr. Miller has laid old Otis in his grave...YAH!🎶

Cinder: Hey Jaune~

Jaune: Huh? *Turns to her*

Cinder: Can I join you for a drink? I can be very good company~

Poppy Avn Characters pt.1

Ok I have everything for the first three characters down so here we go :).

Please note that these guys were made for my fanfiction of the au "Science Time with Dr. Pine" Which has mostly been expanded on by @aroace-get-out-of-my-face. This is in no way meant to impose on them or disregard their ideas for the au, I'm just doing my best with what we have so far.

I did my best to copy the GF style. But in actual artwork I make, I'll probably go closer to my usual style.

The other three will hopefully be done tomorrow.

Character info under the read more, in order from left to right.

Name, Age, Place of Birth-

Eliane Lopes (Eli): 16, Brazil-

Mainly works as a puppeteer until they start doing more human acting, then she works as an older sister figure for the puppets that are children. For the adult puppets (i.e. Dr. Pine), she works as an assistant to connect watchers to the topic. Her mom comes on set sometimes early on to see what exactly her daughter does for work (and starts to bring lunch too when they worm their way into her heart), then eventually joins and plays a role in teaching how to begin learning new languages. She will eventually act as a primary parental figure. 

As Eli gets older, and comes into her own, she will take on a more active role as she gets more experience from the others (Stan also teaches her how to pick-pocket and lock-pick because of course he did). Kind of becomes a proto-Wendy/Soos, where she gets taken under Stans’ wing and they develop a familial relationship, her mom also kinda takes in Stan in the same way and also teaches him to cook.

After everything with Ford happens Eli is saltier for a bit since she and Stan had bonded, but she gets over it fairly fast and is happy Stan could reconnect with his family. She and her mom gossip about him though.

Her main puppet is a younger one named ‘Rosie’ which, at first (season 1), is a small hand puppet with finger-controlled hands. Her main body is made of soft orange felt cloth, she wears a repurposed green dress for dolls and has a head of red ‘hair’ made of string. She also had a round red nose and big ol’ googly eyes. The new Rosie puppet (season 2 and onward) is heavier and fuller, she is still felt, but her eyes are also now the classic felt kind too. Her body is plumped up with more padding, and she now has sticks to move her arms rather than fingers. She has a proper custom dress, along with a few other outfits for different activities. Her hair is also now proper faux hair, pressed into wild curls with a mix of string throughout the scalp (like her puppeteer).

Rosie is sweet and meant to connect to the younger audience, being the primary focus of the camera. She talks very kindly, and often is the character to reiterate the ‘lesson of the day’ at the end of segments. Otherwise, the other puppets will do their thing during their segments. Her and Dr. Pine are often paired together since they have good chemistry, they have a sweet student and teacher relationship.

David Mercury: 17, NYC-

He is also a puppeteer to begin with, but when live actors start happening, he is often an extra since he’s a little camera shy as a human actor. Usually he will help with sets, moving things around, setting up lights or helping with adding details to set pieces. He doesn’t really talk about his home life. He is a big fan of rock bands like QUEEN, AC/DC and KISS.

He has an interest in the cameras early on and will often stay after hours to ask how everything works to actually make a segment look good. Otherwise, he can be found around town late into the evening. After he becomes an adult, he also starts to learn how to operate the cameras and eventually goes to college for film while working on PA on the side. He eventually becomes PA’s main cameraman. He and Eli become good friends.

When the Ford stuff is figured out, he  works with Ford to make a mini documentary about Gravity Falls; it doesn’t get released until years later after Fords’ research is published since it was primarily a passion project. He composes all of the shots and makes all of the music for it too. He did outsource to a college friend for editing though.

His primary puppet is a skinny little tube of a guy named ‘Casey’, closer to a teen in terms of a puppet kid. At the start (season 1) He is made with bright blue textured cloth, with a long pale felt nose, googly eyes and staggered segments of cut black felt cloth ‘hair’, similarly his clothes are bits of felt cut into a sort-of T-shirt. The newer Casey puppet (season 2 and onward) gets the stuffed felt treatment too. He's still a skinny thing, he just has more shape and definition, along with custom clothes as well and short fake hair.

He acts as a way of establishing the ‘situation’ for the day that the lesson is centered around. Otherwise, he mainly acts as a third man to bounce interactions off of to make things feel more natural. He has a sort of plain nasally voice and has a bit of a sarcastic streak. He is often the focus of episodes about friends or social interactions. He is usually in the main Rosie segments where they act as a duo.

John Richards: 24, New Mexico-

Started as the muscle and helped with the set building, since he is such a big guy, being an ex-football player. But when Tina the Tiny T-Rex gets introduced (season 2), he plays her since her costume is so heavy. Her lines are dubbed over in post by a later hire. He looks like a massive terrifying bear, but he is actually very sweet. He and Stan are buds and both work on PA until they both retire. Even then, they stay in contact despite living in different states.

He is the guy who tackles Ford when he attacks Dr. Pine, and thusly, he isn’t very fond of Ford until after he and Stan work out their stuff. Then it’s constant teasing by making Ford join in lesson segments about family when he is featured in the show. There are so many videos of Tina doing football stuff that it causes women's football to go on the rise for a while. He takes pride in this fact as he is the oldest of 3 and his two sisters look up to him a lot.

Tina is a T-Rex done sort of in the style of Barney the Dinosaur. She has a big head with long stocky legs and small arms that are mostly controlled by the hands around the ‘biceps’ of the costume. Coincidentally, she is also mostly scientifically accurate due to the plumage of ‘feathers’ (read: fake party feathers and string) on her back, joints and tail, which were used to hide the actor better. She is a light blue on her felt ‘scaled’ parts and has dark blue spots on her body and her ‘feathers’.

She is excitable and sporty, encouraging play and healthy activity, always trying to inspire the others to try out some form of sport or physical movement. Otherwise, she will often be the one to ask questions about the ‘lesson of the day’ and address anything that the audience might get confused on.

Penny and Cinder have an obvious advantage, Penny 'couse her weapons are allways hidden and Cinder 'couse she can make her's on the fly.

Russel: *smiling* Oh she loved the idea! I didn't know there was an insectarium in Vale! She really liked the exhibition on the Hymenoptera order. Did you know that bees, wasps and ants are all closely related? Oh and- *Picking up a bag of fried cricket* -they even sell food made of insects! It tastes like chips!

Velvet: *giggling* Well, i'm happy you both seemed to like the place. I went there with my team. *Grinning* My leader was terrified!

Mercury: *shrug* Roman bailed on us. Said something about not wanting to work with a "Bitch of a Grimm witch". No idea what he meant by that though.

Mercury: Well, he did say he wouldn't help with Beacon destruction since that wasn't the original plan. He thought we were going to sell the stuff to the black market. That, he doesn't care for.

Cinder: *groan, thinking about all the logistical problems that are now presenting themselves* Guess we'll have to BUY the explosive then. We won't be able to destroy the Amity colosseum, but that was just a secondary objective.

Chapter 9: Festivities are Temporary Crime is Forever

A few months following initiation Jaune and Ruby had planned an outing with their teams to check out the preparations of the Vytal Festival. Jaune was still feeling somewhat queezy after the Bullhead ride much to his partner's worry.

Jaune: So... what exactly is the Vytal Festival?

Weiss: You're kidding right? You're supposed to be our team leader and you don't know? Weiss rubbed her partner's back.

Jaune shook his head as he took some deep breaths.

Jaune: I grew up on the outskirts, you can't really blame me.

Weiss sighed: Every two years a kingdom is chosen to open their doors and allow everyone to enter and enjoy the festivities and culture, that's as simple as I can put it.

Yang: Alright, now that Lady Killer is all caught up let's go-

Before Yang could finish speaking Jaune's scroll began to ring.

Jaune: S-Sorry, I gotta go take this. You all just go and enjoy the festival.

Jaune ran into an alleyway, leaving the others behind.

As Jaune answered the call a mature voice can be heard on the otherside, one belonging to Roman Torchwick.

Roman: Hey kid, where are you? We had a deal-

Jaune: Yeah yeah I know. I'll be at the harbor in a bit. You have a mask for me... right?

Roman: Yeah, sure whatever. Just get over here.

At the harbor Roman is waiting with Neo.

Roman: Yeah I know the kid's late. Don't even know what you see in him.

Neo signed in response.

Roman: What do you mean you think he's 'packing'?!

Neo signed, making some questionable expressions this time.

Roman: Yeah, I know what it means but him? You can do better.

Before long Jaune had arrived, panting and held out his hand.

Jaune: Jeez, mask. Where is it? I'm not putting my identity out there for the world if any media outlet shows up to bust us.

Roman: Lower your tone, kid. Besides this was all I could find.

Roman handed Jaune a plague doctor mask and outfit.

Jaune simply sighed as he grabbed the disguise.

Jaune: I guess a disguise would also make me more hidden too. I'll be right back.

Jaune walked into a nearby warehouse to change and as he came out Neo blushed.

Jaune: ... So, how do I look?

Neo grabbed Jaune's hand and dragged him to the dock where Roman's cargo would arrive.

Jaune: So, we just make sure the cargo is fine... seems simple enough.

A few hours had passed and Jaune attempted to break the awkward silence.

Jaune: S-So... I was wondering if you'd like to go out for some Ice Cream after this?

Neo tilts his head as he ponders Jaune's offer before nodding.

Jaune: R-Really, I heard there was this new place that opened up-

Before Jaune could finish speaking he heard the sounds of fighting.

Neo quickly got out Hush and Jaune took out Gan Jiang and Mo Ye.

Jaune: Sounds like Roman's in trouble-

Before Jaune and Neo could run to help Roman a bullet landed near them from Ruby on top of one of the warehouses and Blake ran in front of the two.

Blake: Two against two... hope you two know how to fight.

Without saying anything Jaune casted an upward spin and thrusted Gan Jiang towards Blake who managed to dodge. Quickly reacting Jaune pulled the rope to the right with enough force to knock Blake into a container and quickly deplete her aura.

Yang and Pyrrha quickly arrived to her aid.

Pyrrha: Blake, you shouldn't run off like that. We're team and we don't care if you're a faunus or not.

Pyrrha picked up Blake to try and carry her away. Yang, enraged, glared at Jaune.

Yang: You'll pay for hurting my partner!

As Yang used Ember Celica to charge at Jaune he was able to move out of the way with minimal damage to his aura. In response he kicked Gan Jiang into Yang's back, sending her faceplanting into the ground.

Weighing her options Pyrrha debated on fighting or not before Roman arrived on a Bullhead and tossed down a rope ladder.

Roman: Kids! Abort the mission. Forget the cargo if you value your lives!

Before they could react, a blonde monkey faunus with his staff hit Neo, depleting her aura.

Composed, Jaune analyzed the situation and noticed a short haired redhead with floating swords from afar. He picked up Neo and grabbed the rope ladder as the Bullhead began to fly away. Jaune noticed a familiar face on the Bullhead though, it was Cinder who shot what seemed to be a fire arrow at the redhead.

In a dingy warehouse Jaune sat on a couch as Neo clung to him while Cinder and Roman sat across from him. Jaune took off his mask.

Jaune: So... you mind telling me what that was all about, Cinder?

Cinder: I suppose it's only fair... Salem told you about the maidens, right?

Jaune nodded and Cinder continued.

Cinder: I… was tasked to take the Fall Maiden's power in order for Salem to succeed. I was only able to take half… she is held somewhere in Beacon. I suggest that you look for her if you wish to not make Salem mad.

Jaune: … I-I see… I'll do what I can. For Salem.

Cinder: I'm glad you can understand. Ah, speaking of which, our guests have arrived.

Emerald and Mercury enter the room.

Jaune: Em! Mercury! I missed you girls.

Jaune got up and hugged the two, leaving Neo pouting in jealousy.

Mercury, tapping Jaune's shoulder: Alright, that’s enough. We missed you too.

Jaune: Hehe, sorry about that.

Mercury: So, who's the girl? You two dating~

Jaune: A-Actually he's a guy… and n-no… not as of now anyways.

Jaune rubbed his neck.

Emerald was shocked at the revelations.

Emerald: A guy?! But he's so… pretty. Didn’t know you swung that way.

Jaune: Wh-Wha- I um… n-no it's not… he came onto me first. I mean… I wouldn't mind… N-Nevermind, what brings you two here?

Cinder, crossing her legs: Ahem, if I may. Emerald and Mercury are here to help out with Salem’s plan. When the Vytal Tournament comes around Mercury, Emerald, Neo, and I will infiltrate Beacon under the guise of being students from Haven participating in the tournament.

Jaune: see… but wouldn’t Neo's reputation as Roman's partner in crime make it obvious who he is?

Before Cinder could answer Jaune's question Neo used his semblance to disguised himself as Mint, his alter ego.

Cinder: Neo here will enter under the guise of Mint. His semblance should allow him entry no problem.

Jaune: I suppose if it's for Salem I can't really object. Besides it’d be nice to have the three of you around again.

Jaune got up and checked the time only to realize he had to hurry.

Jaune: Sorry to cut this reunion short. Gotta catch the Bullhead back to Beacon.

Mercury: Hey, catch. Arthur made these for you.

Mercury tossed a bottle of motion sickness medication.

Jaune caught the bottle as he walked into a guest room to change out of his disguise.

Walking through the streets of Vale, lit up by only the streetlights, Jaune was left a little disappointed that he and Neo weren't able to go out on their date.

Jaune, to himself: 'How am I gonna explain my disappearance to my team?'

Jaune stepped onto the Bullhead and put on some headphones to listen to music.

Meanwhile, in team JNWL's dorm Ren and Nora have fallen asleep while waiting for their leader. Weiss was still anxiously waiting on her partner however while mumbling.

Weiss: Stupid leader… stupid Jaune. How does he expect our team to operate without him. Not like I care about him or whatever… maybe a little.

Shortly after the door slowly opened as Jaune entered the room.

Jaune: Hey-

Before he could finish speaking Weiss ran up and hugged him.

Weiss: Stupid Jaune! Why were you gone for so long!? Do you know how worried I- I mean we were.

Jaune: H-Hey… jeez were you up all this time waiting?

Jaune ran his fingers through Weiss' long loose hair.

Weiss blushed and pulled him deeper.

Weiss: A-And what if I was!? What if I forced myself to stay awake? You're our leader for crying out loud!

As Weiss quietly cried in Jaune's arms he did everything he could to comfort her.

Jaune: Isn't it about time you let go? I need to get to sleep.

Weiss frantically shook her head.

Weiss: If you want to sleep then we'll have to share a bed!

Jaune simply sighed and sweeper Weiss off her feet, an action Weiss had become all too familiar with.

Jaune: Fine… what a spoiled partner I have.

Weiss slowly closed her eyes as she buried her face into her partner while blushing.

Weiss: I don't care… say what you want.

Jaune let out a sigh as he carried his clingy partner into his bed and place her on top of himself allowing the two to slowly drift off to sleep in each other’s embrace.
